Conservation
Lightwater Valley Birds of Prey Centre aims to raise awareness of conservation issues by educating our younger generation, so that we can reduce the need to release birds, and simply look after the ones we already have in the countryside.
Often, a major reason why the numbers of native birds of prey have declined, is because of the damaging impact that humans have on the natural habitat of many raptor species.
As there are many factors directly affecting the bird population, we strive to highlight what these are and how problems can be avoided.
School visits
It is crucial that our younger generation is aware of how delicate the environment is, and the detrimental effect that humans are having on the planet. Simply by being aware of our actions, we can make a difference. This is why Lightwater Valley Bird of Prey Centre has formed a mobile team, dedicated to visiting schools, in order to impress this important message.
We have found that children of all ages and abilities respond well to the birds that we bring along. We can offer groups of pupils an action-packed afternoon, when we bring along a number of trained hawks and owls - each one with its own story to tell.
We hope to capture everyone's imagination with our exciting flying demonstrations, interactive talks and fun activities.
